This is the prototype. It is rough, very rough.

Made from a 16″ steel pizza pan found at Wal-Mart.

Purchased a piano hinge at Home Depot, cut it to length and riveted the thirds together.

Why did I build a folding ground plane? Why because I could, that’s why.
